Activity for August 2024: Medical camp at Sarada Sishu Niketan, Nalasopara and Dhrishti Foundation
Vivekananda Shobha Jeevan Jyoti Kendra runs a girls' home at Sarada sishu niketan at Nalasopara. This ashram is a home for 52 girls. This month, Path of Bliss conducted a health camp for these tiny tots. Their medical records were updated, and medicines for their common complaints were given.
As Rakshabandhan is nearing, we also gave them rakhees that were made by differently-abled children of Dhrishti Foundation.
The Mataji who manages the home expressed her gratitude and thanked Path of Bliss for this noble gesture. As power failure is a common problem, PoB will be shortly arranging for solar powered lamps for this children's home.
As always, this was a very satisfying activity. 😊
Thank you Mahika for your wholehearted service 🙏🏽
Activity for July 2024: Community Teaching Group, Dongripada, Thane
This community teaching centre is located in Thane Ghodbunder area and has been providing free coaching to underprivileged children. The students of the nearby area assemble in the Ganesh temple in Dongripada.
On selected Sunday mornings, they perform street plays and various cultural events. This has made them smarter and bold. For this, they were in need of a music system with a speaker, karaoke and mic, which will enable them to take this activity to a different level. This music system will be used in all of their 7 centres in Ghodbunder area. The children and the teachers were super thrilled to have this system. They even performed some songs and dances. The street play based on the importance of trees was truly commendable.
We spent some time talking and chatting with the students and teachers. Snacks of samosa and jalebi always bring smiles on their faces. Kids had a fun time today. We also donated bedsheets to blind families residing near the temple.
Activity for June 2024- Ashakiran Community Teaching Centre Ashakiran is a school-like remedial study centre where children from under- privileged communities come to learn.
They teach in the space inside Nerul police station.
There are approximately 120 children who study here and 30 volunteer teachers guiding the kids on a day to day basis.
PoB supported Ashakiran by donating sets of textbooks for grades 4th to 10th. We also felicitated 18 students who passed SSc this year. All the students were given snacks.
Activity for May: Medical camp at Bhoyapada, Kaner Village
Our May month activity of the free medical and health check camp was a grand success. This was organised at Bhoyapada in Virar. More than 200 patients took the advantage of this camp.
Pre-camp preparations were well thought and implemented accordingly. Pamphlets were distributed in nearby villages, doctor panel was set, banners displayed and the message was spread by word of mouth to the surrounding villages. Although this was initially planned with a set of 6 doctors and a small dispensing unit, the final outcome was overwhelming. We had a multi-speciality consultation which included- Allopathy, Ayurved, Naturopathy, Physical Fitness, Paediatric, Opthalmic and Dental clinics. Arrangements for diabetes and HIV-AIDS screening were also a part of the camp. In the special cardiac wellness clinic, the patients got an ECG done. Some cardiac patients who required extra investigation, were advised to a nearby hospital and that would also be free of cost as per the Government schemes. Medicines and vision correction glasses were dispensed at the camp. Volunteers from several organisations joined us in big numbers and so the entire process functioned smoothly.
Path of Bliss appreciates the dedication of all the doctors and volunteers (even the virtual ones) for their selfless service. A special thanks to Dr. Mahika for making this happen.🙏🏾
Activity for April 2024: Installing rain water harvesting system at Matrubhumi school, Rahatoli village, Badlapur
This was our sincere contribution towards water conservation…
Rainwater harvesting is the key to recharging the ground water level. PoB addressed this urgent need for better water management.
We implemented a simple rainwater harvesting system at Matrubhumi school, Badlapur, which has a predominance of adivasi students. This school has a large area with an existing borewell. The borewell dries up in the month of January. From then on, the school faces acute water shortage.
3 major things done here
1. Trenches were dug to direct the water towards the bore.
2. Open area behind the school building was ploughed to make the soil permeable to water. This will facilitate more water percolation.
3. Pits were dug around the borewell.
Accumulated surface run-off water is diverted to borewells which will help raise the water table of that plane.
The best part of this project was that there was involvement of school teachers, staff, and even the students. The work started on 15th June, 1st day of the academic year, after evoking the blessings of the Almighty. Many joined hands in digging the pits to make the soil porous.
This is our humble contribution towards saving our Earth from major water crisis.
Thank you PoB family, that we could address this issue, albeit at a slow pace...
Activity for March 2024: Rescue foundation, Kandivli
Path of Bliss celebrated the International Women's Day with Girls of Rescue Foundation, Kandivli. These girls are victims of human trafficking and are sold for forced prostitution.
We had pathological tests (CBC, thyroid function and blood group) done for all the 61 girls with help and support from Dr. Hemant Shah. We played interesting games and musical quiz hosted by the talented event organiser- Andrea and spent quality time laughing and enjoying. An attempt to make them feel respected and forget their dark times..
In the end they danced their heart out to enjoy the Woman's Day in full swing.
We had unlimited live pav bhaji and tava pulav counter and the girls and staff enjoyed to their fullest. For some girls who were fasting, we also arranged for khichadi and farali patties. Kesar pedha was relished by all.
We spent a memorable time with them.....
Thank you all for your support 🙏🏾
PoB activity for February 2024- Tribal women empowerment through tailoring and kitchen projects, SGNP
Yet another awesome activity!!!
We started our day with nature trail inside SGNP.
We walked through the bamboo garden and visited the plant nursery. Breakfast of matar poha and idli chutney with kadak masala chai from the tribal kitchen was a gastronomic delight.
We then visited the zoo, the cat orientation centre, taxidermy house and botanical garden. The walk to Gandhi tekdi aided the faster digestion. Here we had a workshop of block printing on the bags. This was conducted by the trained ladies from the village. This was followed by an authentic tribal lunch along with the display of Seva products and then interaction with the ladies who make the products. Thanks to our PoB members who bought products worth Rs.8300/_ right on the spot.
We witnessed several examples of transformation from a subdued lady to a dynamic person. Many girls/ladies who were shy and silent earlier are now the leaders and trek guides. It makes us more happy when we know that we have also contributed a little bit in their journey.
Thank you PoB members 🙏🏾
